Leena Clayton

Senior DH Designer

Leena is a hard-working and experienced CAD Engineer within our design team. She has a wealth of expertise using AutoCAD which makes her contribution to our team immeasurable. She assists in the production of numerous 2D and 3D drawings including GA district heating pipe routes, hazard identification, communication duct routes and inspection chambers, leak detection systems, 3D as‑built survey information for DH pipes trench extents, isolation valve and air vent chamber models and drawings, and 3D modelling of utilities and pipe routes in accordance with BIM Level II. Leena’s eagle eye for detail ensures we produce an exceptionally high standard of work and guides others to achieve the same. She is also a trainer for new starters, and a mentor for people finding their feet within the company.

Before joining our design team, Leena had worked for 20+ years as a CAD Engineer/Designer within several different organisations in the UK, including Mitsubishi, GE, Alstom, and ABB. During her time at GE/Alstom, she was responsible for creating and amending electrical schematic diagrams, wire lists and BOMs for multiple projects worldwide using AutoCAD and DMS, and for creating the drawings and wire lists for FIL (France‑Italy Link) using Engineering Base, an intelligent Microsoft‑based drawing package. At ABB, Leena was solely responsible for substation plant identification and labelling, and for both above‑ and below‑ground earthing of all buildings and equipment. She has also created, amended, and maintained substation mechanical layouts, using AutoCAD and MicroStation, as well as creating wiring diagrams and schematics, general assemblies, panel layouts, and process layouts, for both small‑ and large‑scale projects.

Prior to using CAD, Leena was a secretary/PA.
